Statewide Veterans Resources

Veterans who live in Iowa have both public and private sector resources. Home Base Iowa has IowaWORKS Veteran Representatives which provide eligible veterans with access to job listings, guidance with drafting resumes and interview assistance. They also help place veterans in state and federal employment/training programs. Additionally, Home Base Iowa uses Veteran Service Officers placed in each of Iowa’s 99 counties as a point of contact for veterans and their families.

On the private sector side, Home Base Iowa businesses want to hire veterans. Over 1,200 Iowa businesses have pledged to hire 7,500+ veterans over the next five years. These businesses actively attend job fairs to recruit veterans for employment. Based on an Iowa Business Council report, the program has provided over 2,700 jobs for veterans. Private-sector fundraising is crucial for Home Base Iowa marketing efforts. To date, Iowa businesses have contributed over $1.2M. These funds help increase awareness for veterans and transitioning service members and help connect them directly with Iowa employers.
