Statewide Community & Education Veteran Resources by County
Click on any county below to view local veteran resources and information about the communities which have become Home Base Iowa (HBI) Communities. Iowa counties and cities can earn the designation by passing a resolution of support, providing an incentive package which includes a community point of contact, having 10% of eligible, hiring businesses as Home Base Iowa businesses and local signage. Each HBI community includes a downloadable PDF which highlights the state and local incentives.

The Iowa Department of Veterans Affairs, Iowa National Guard, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), Iowa Workforce Development veteran services and the American Legion all play a role in assisting veterans and transitioning service members.
Certified Higher Academic Military Partners (CHAMPs) offer premium higher education incentives to veterans and their families. Participating CHAMPs schools are committed to assisting veterans and their family members as they continue their education. You can learn more about CHAMPs schools and see the full list here.
