Principal Success Stories
This month’s success story is focusing on five Principal employees. These veterans discuss the obstacles and successes they’ve found while transitioning from active duty military to the corporate work environment. Thank you, Principal, for sharing these important stories.
Steve's Success Story
Steve Bogle began his military career in 1975, involved with the Military Police Company, then attended Flight school in 1985. After his military career he joined the law enforcement until 2011, when he then joined MidAmerican Energy as the Director of Corporate Security & Resiliency. With his participation in THE Department of Defense’s program, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), Steve sees the importance in hiring veterans, as they can bring value to the workforce. Recently, he was honored to partake in presenting HBI partner business Principal Financial with the ESGR’s Extraordinary Employer Support Award. Julia's Success Story
Julia Schurman has been working at Vermeer for approximately one year as a human resources manager. She previously served in the Army in the Middle East gaining experience in human and employee relations. She shared her thoughts about how to better help transitioning veterans and why she is proud to call Iowa her home.
Billy's Success Story
Billy Fox is a veteran who served in the Army, spending time in Iraq and other Middle Eastern countries. Now, Billy works as a security manager at Vermeer in Pella. He shares his thoughts on the value of hiring veterans and being able to translate military skills into the civilian workforce.
